Our House Walton community Hub have been leading volunteer teams with Imagine If Trust, and are now lead coordinators of the whole project. We have team who have the passion for supporting street sex workers and are already looking at ways to enhance the support we offer alongside Imagine If Trust.
James Sloan is the CEO of Imagine If Trust. They are a Liverpool based charity, working to bring about transformation through a range of community projects. Our aims are to relieve poverty, promote education and strengthen families.
The charity produce a number of well recognised community projects under one banner. The strength of this approach is in the ability to meet an individual's multiple needs without the risk of a breakdown in the referral process.
Since then they have grown to incorporate new initiatives in a desire to support people to live their lives to the full both in Liverpool and the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Streetwise provides practical and emotional support to street sex workers including the provision of tea, coffee, sandwiches, toiletries and condoms. We aim to provide a safe place for the workers to come and discuss concerns or fears. They can also request a volunteer to support them when attending official meetings such as court cases.
"The service you carry out is much appreciated, much needed and much thought about.
You give constant care and treat us with respect. You’re there for all our needs even though you don’t have to be."
Currently every Friday and Saturday night our volunteers are on hand to provide support to the women, men and transgender working around our city. We have up to 40 volunteers who have a wide range of jobs, from students to solicitors, and mum's to medical practitioners.
